Hey everyone,
Brewing my first batch and have a Coopers Real Ale kit, 3 lbs dextrose, 1 oz Citra and 1 oz Cascade hops. Already bought the dextrose so I won't be using DME or LME this time. Help me put together something good.

Many of the Cooper's cans are designed to use a kilo of dextrose, so it should be good there. A little drier/crisper. I do about 2.3-2.5 volumes of co2 for carbonation on ales. Use the hops at even 15 & 10 minutes left in the boil for flavor. And add the dextrose @ flame out & stir well.

Okay and those hop additions should be good for aroma and flavor right? I am a huge Citra fan and really like cascade as well so it should be an interesting and hoppy ale

Also forgot to add any tweaks to their brew process or any malt I should steep in the water?

Or half an ounce of each hop @ 3 minutes for aroma. I'd save the steeping grains for next time. Learn what these additions do first. then add something else.

Would 1 oz of each at the given intervals be good followed by an oz of each at 3 minutes?

You could do that, sure. You'd have good flavor & aroma that way. I like to chill the wort to 75F or so. Then take the couple gallons of water chilling in the fridge to top off with. After, that is, I strain the wort into primary to get the gunk out & aerate it. The ice cold top off should get it down to 65F or so.

Brewed the batch last night. Aroma was pleasant and hoppy and wort taste wasn't bad at all...we will see how it goes
