I have 500 ml bottles the pack says use 2 tabs for 750 ml and one tab for 340 ml what should I do?

That's what I'm thinking just how to split them now... I could do the half by weight i guess

I suspect 1.5, +/- a reasonable tolerance will be fine
....meaning RDWHAHB, and don't get all OCD about the half ;)

Two comments on this; if you're just going to bottle one or two bottles the pill cutter will work without being too much of a PITA. I emailed Cooper's about this a couple of years ago. It didn't seem to register with them that I had 16 oz/500 ml bottles. I had to bring math into the whole thing and batch prime. It defeated the purpose of the convenience of the carb tabs. Total batch size in the measurement of your choice (ml or oz) divide by 340 ml or 11.5 oz = the number of tabs. Dissolve the tabs in two cups of boiling water. Let cool a little and rack the beer onto the sugar and bottle. Or, get some 12 oz bottles...

I used to cut them in half with a good pair of scissors, now u use 1 level teaspoon of dextrose.

It seems to me the folks on the Cooper's forums told me 1 Cooper's carb drop was good for 12-16oz. 1 drop in a 12oz bottle was a lot all said & done to me. The PB2 guy on there is their brew tech. He used to tell me a lot of things about their products. But I do use my pill splitter for halving the big stuff, like Whirlfloc tablets.

Not much difference between 12 and 16 oz. I'd call them slightly undercarbed and be done with it.

I used them for quite some time as they were easy and I was uncertain that batch arming would really work evenly until I forgot to buy more and was empty handed on bottling day. Watched a couple of videos and haven't looked back.

Does a pill splitter really work much better than a kitchen knife? Sure hate how my Whirlflock tabs crumble at times. Not sure why they make them sized for ~10 gals...

My pill splitter is basically a rectangular plastic box with a "V" to hold the pill in place so the razor knife blade can cleanly split it. Does a lot cleaner job with very little residue for splitting tablets & such. And yeah, IDK why they make the Whirlfloc tablets in a 10G size? I sat down one day & split the whole bottle & placed them back in it. Now ready for grabbing one half real quick for a 5G batch. Boy, did the ESB come out crystal clear too!

They're usually around the pharmacy in these parts. Real handy & don't cost much. I clean it with the same brush used to clean my grain mill. Just started hearing birds chirping for females outside...:ban: Spring is close!!!

As much as I enjoy winter in TX and loathe the hot and humid summers that begin in mid spring to mid fall, I'm ready for winter to be over!
