Hey All,
I'm still semi-new to brewing (on my 6th batch) and I have recently encountered a bottle problem, I'M RUNNING OUT OF THEM! I'm sure everyone has had this problem but this was my first "no bottles, omg what do I do" scare. I'm a recent college grad and still live in a college town so I decided to go to the local recycle company since I know they aren't short on beer bottles. I get there, talk to them and told them that I was a homebrewer and if I could look through the glass. They said "sure", and sent me down the road to this guy who runs the main recycle part of the building. I get there and meet this really nice guy, probably in his late 40's, and we get to talking about school/brewing etc.
He tells me that he was finally able to get back to school and is taking some classes right now to get his Associates degree and was doing well but was having trouble with his Algebra class. Having a degree in Chemistry, I've taken my fair share of math classes and that stuff is still pretty fresh in my head. We then made an arrangement where I will help him on his Algebra stuff and in return I get all of the free bottles I want (which is more then enough). He is also saving the 1 gallon Carlos Rossi jugs so I can make my usual 1 gallon batches of mead. So today I spent 30 min helping him on some assignments and in return I picked up 60 assorted bottles and five 1 gallon jugs. I just wanted to share this with you all just to show you how a little bit of kindness can go a long ways.
Cheers,
Kevin
