Okay, getting back into brewing from about 18 months off. first batch went reasonably okay until I got to transferring my cooled wort to the fermenter. I noticed it was VERY foamy. LIke way foamier than I have ever seen. I thought "oh crap, I left starsan in there" then remembered , no, the wort splashed on the bottom of the bucket. Also, my volume was right.

Then I pulled my hop basket and realized something. I was running the hop basked on the bottom of the kettle as I was using my shiny new steam slayer. I also run an induction setup. I noticed some scorching on the pot under where the hop basked was sitting. Made sense, the hop basket is stainless steel and likely was heating during the boil. I tasted the wort and it didnt taste burnt. It was just foamy as all get out.

anyone ever run into this?

Fermentation went really well (strong). We'll see how it turns out.
