Please forgive me as I am totally new to the mini fridge conversion to kegerator process, but any help is appreciated.

I think I know the basics but have a few questions:

I want to put a tap in the front of my fridge so I know I need to drill a hole for the shank to go through but how big for a 3/16" shank?

The total width of the door I am drilling through is about 2", would a 3" shank be long enough?

How do I connect my keg to the faucet, would this beer line connection kit work?

Thanks for the help, I just don't want to order the wrong thing.

You might want a slightly longer (4") shank. KegConnection actually lists the "usable length" on their site - http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=303 (need to click Detailed Description)

You have the keg already? I like the disconnects with the 1/4" MFL rather than barb connections to the beer line. Easier to swap and clean. Small additional expense in buying the 1/4" barb swivel nut for the line, but worth it. I was initially worried about it being just another place to develop a leak (which it is) but these connections are solid at least in my experience.

KegConnection or whoever will sell you a kit with all the pieces to go from keg to glass, with or without the keg. I'll beat the rush and recommend the Perlick forward sealing faucets...the 525SS has had a recent run of problems involving a manufacturing issue with the connection to the shanks, but the 525PC are supposed to be fine still.
