Hi All!

I'm excited to say as a new brewer that my continuous system is working quite well and I'm about to bottle my third batch and begin brewing the fourth!

I'm unsure though, when should I clean out the system completely/how often? what's the procedure to do this to reduce contamination risk?

Thanks for your help & happy brewing!

The cleaning time would be about every 6 months or when your scoby gets to be more than 3 inches thick, or if your spigot clogs. apparently the large amount of mature brew protects your scoby so there is less worry of mold or other undesirable growths in your bootch. My scobys have all separated and floated down every time I add new sweet tea, so the biggest one i have is only about 1/2 inch thick. My first time messing with my continuous setup will be soon when i get the 5 gallon oak barrel I ordered. Will create a scoby hotel with my previous container.
