I have made my own PBW from 42% sodium percarbonate, 28% sodium carbonate and 30% Trisodium phosphate (TSP) to clean my equipment.

I use 5 grams/liter (about 20 grams per gallon) and I dont wanna scrub my plastic items at all with anything...so I normally rinse everything off the equipment and the fermenter (left overs from previous fermentation before storing them...and so on) and on the brewing day I get out my fermenter from storage and fill it up with water and put my homemade PBW. Then all the small items that I use during the brewing.

My question is: do you guys think my home-made formula gives enough cleaning power to leave the bucket (packed with the small brewing items too such as tubing) filled up with water+PBW and leave it over night or just for 4-5 hours and then just rinse it out, then sanitize it with iodine and use it?

So basically...
-I'd like to know the contact time of my PBW
-and if you guys think it is powerful enough with this formula.

Thanks

I don't know if I'd use PBW on anything but the fermentor. Also I wouldn't use PBW right before I'd brew a batch. The contact time and power seems to be right though.

I would use it for however long it needs to loosen the gunk. If it rinses clean no problems. If not, you could vary the concentration and/or the length of time etc. until you find the right combination.

where did you get raw ingredients for this?

ive not researched making my own.
Ive bought the generic stuff from dollar tree seems to work ok

yeah, it normally rinses clean.....thanks for the reply.

Why only the fermentor? I thought it was meant to be used for everything that comes in touch with the beer.
then what other material do you use to clean the rest of your equipment (pot, tubing, scissors...etc)

I am in Spain. There is a little store in Madrid that sells them.
