I bought a keg tower that has beer lines connected to a hex nut. I'm assuming it is for a sanke set up. Here is pretty much what it looks like:

My ball lock disconnects have 1/4" barb fittings. Should I just cut the tubing by the hex nut and attach and clamp it to the barb fitting or is there a better way to connect it? Thanks!

Of course now that I look at it I may have 3/16" tubing. I guess I might have to replace the tubing with 1/4"?

I am kinda in the same situation. I have a tower tap as well. I have not got it hooked up yet but I bought 6' of beer line that I will connect to my tower and the ball lock disconnect. I was going to cut the hose above the hex nut for the Sankey adapter but decided not to. When I decide to upgrade to a two tap tower I will sell the old setup and want to have it complete

I cut the ends of my tower lines and installed barbed ferrules...all my connects are threaded...makes for relatively easy on/off and wap out...they are not quick connect but it makes it so much easier to swap out corny's/sanke's.

You could connect the hose directly to the barbed fittings but you'll likely end up cutting those off to swap out down the road. Just a thought.

Pardon my noob ignorance, but I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentence. What would I like cut off and what would I likely swap out down the road?

If you plan on only using cornys then just cut and connect your barbed pin/ball connects...then forget about it, no big deal.

I use the threaded setup because I can easily swap out pin/ball connects and cornys with an adapted sanke tap and sanke keg.

If you ever wanted to use a sanke keg down the road, you've got some modifications to do if you use the barbs....that's all I was saying.

Good luck!

3/16" will and DOES fit 1/4" barbs KegKowboy used 3/16 tubing on the 1/4" barb MFL fittings on my ball lock couplings

Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably have to cut it before I figure out what it is. It looks like there is an inner tube with a thick outer tube. So I'm guessing the inner tubing is 3/16" but good to know that it shouldn't matter.

Is there a certain tool needed to pry off those clamps they put on those things so I don't have to cut the tubing? I haven't looked at it too closely so it might be easy to do but it isn't a clamp with a screw. It's used to connect the tubing to the shank as well.

Save yourself the trouble...cut them close to the fitting and be done with it.

I just used a very small flat head screw driver to pry the end of the Oetiker clamp off. I didn't want to cut the tubing as well and it took just as long to pry it off as it would have been had I cut it off.

also heat up some water and put the end of the tubing in to get is soft before you put it on the 1/4" barbs. it makes things easier.
