Confused myself wiring a 240V outlet

I'm running a 240 outlet for an induction cook top. I pulled 12/3 (4 conductors), got my single outlet (6-20), a metal box and 20 amp breaker.

My question - the outlet has 2 hots and a ground. Red/Black for hot. The bare is my ground, right? Would I use the white neutral to bond the metal outlet box back to the panel?

I have a GFCI breaker on order and I'll be installing it before any liquid gets involved.

White is Neutral. If the outlet you are installing does not use a neutral, cap off the white wire with a wire nut and leave it unused.

You could've got by with 12/2 wire. 220 doesn't use a neutral. Cap the white.

Well, this way, in the future, if he needs to change to a different outlet with a neutral terminal, he can do so without pulling new wire.
