I ordered this smart strip thermometer/volume gauge for my kegs: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?products_id=11818
It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm really confused by the science of it. How exactly can it tell how much liquid is inside the keg from the outside, if they are the same temperature (inside a kegerator)? I'm sure there's some basic scientific principle I'm missing here.
