Compact/Canister Wort Chiller

I got one of these from a local brewer. Never seen or heard of it before. Anyone have any details? I know where wort and water goes in/out but is it essentially just a copper coil and the tube is filled with cold water?

I'm debating whether to try to make a copper autosiphon out of the end or just suck to create the siphon.
