Hello all, new member but long time beer drinker. I've decided I'm too picky and $8+ for a good bomber is ridiculous, so I should just make my own. I want this hobby to be successful so here I am.

Welcome to the forum. Now, that bomber of your beer will cost you at least $12 because of all the equipment upgrades and commercial samples you have to buy, but totally justified.

yeah but when we spread out all that equipment cost over 30 years we'll be killing it right?!

Don't get into the hobby thinking you'll save money, do it because you love beer and love making things yourself.

One of the best breweries anywhere is Trinity Brewing on the Garden of the Gods road in Colorado Springs. But I do agree with you, prices for even average craft beer is skyrocketing. However, I still stop by Trinity when I'm in CO to pick up several bombers at an average price of $20 a bottle.

Welcome to the group, and the hobby, from CO :mug:

You can brew on the cheap, and make great beer, but I am a bling and toys addict- so it didn't work out that way for me.

Welcome,

there are a few of us CoSprings brewers floating around here.

What part of the Springs are you in?

I'm in Briargate off Research Pkwy. One of my neighbors said he would watch me do my first solo and just make sure I don't screw it up too much. Is there a brewing club or something similar, I'm a visual hands on learner. Either I'm becoming a slower learner as I get older or I've finally realized i really don't know it all. Either way more hands on for me is always better!

Hey tanktop,

Not part of Brew Brothers, actually starting up another club, Peak Brew Crew. Welcome to brewing your own beer. Remember to have fun and do not get discourages. Let us know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the obsession. Saving money over buying commercial is laughable as most people, myself included, go overboard on brewing equipment and goodies. The Palmer book is ok but a little dated.

I was stationed at Ft. Carson for 4 years. Do me a favor and eat at Edelweiss so I can live vicariously. I have very fond memories of drinking Warsteiner Dunkel on the patio.
