I have a chance to grab a 250 foot roll of 10-3 romex for my dryer outlet for 60 bucks but it is white jacketed not orange. Is there any issue with that

Probably just an older roll from before it was "color coded". Just make sure it's rated for 90 degree celcius.

would wrong color of the jacket make it not pass inspection? i wouldnt want insurance to deny a claim just cause of the wrong jacket color

No, the color doesn't matter, for insurance or any other reason. As far as I'm concerned (licensed electrician) the color code is so that the inspectors can tell what kind of wire is run without actually walking up to it. The white wire is UL listed and has the wire size on it. There is no legal requirement that you use colored wire....just that manufacturers sell it. And, for 60 buxs? That is a steal.

I'd have to agree with Hammy. I recently paid about $220.00 (with tax) for a 250' roll of 10/3. Color won't matter. If you have it inspected, you can tell the inspector that it was an old roll you had laying around for awhile. The wire gauge and # of conductors is printed on the outside jacket anyway.
