Threw this collar together today - nothing fancy - more utilitarian than anything for this build. In the future a prettier build is in store. Either way the Perlick 630SS with stainless collar sure is pretty. Will have 4 Perlicks and then one Stainless stout tap.

Anyone use a wood-burning tool to trick out the collar on their keezer? I've been searching the web forever trying to find a pic, but have yet to see one. Seems people are etching glasses and even their brew kettles, I'm surprised nobody is burning hop vines or brewery logos into their keezer collars.

No woodburning, but I did do a large painted logo, by scanning my small logo, mirroring it, printing large scale, taping to the top of plexi-glass and painting the underside. Worked great, and protects the paint from scratches.

Here's my humble offering:

It's a double collar, inside collar resting on the freezer, outer collar has a 2" overhang to keep the collar in place. I made no permanent modifications to the freezer and can restore it simply by removing the collar and reattaching the lid. I'll be replacing/filling in the faucets with Perlick 630s when I save up my pennies.

The temperature controller is mounted to the collar to keep it out of the way, and I have a ball lock gas post for my gas inlet, allowing me to remove the gas line and still keep the kegs pressurized.

Love the use of the ball lock QD. I'm going to have to steal that idea. I like to get 1/2 barrel kegs from local breweries and need to disconnect my regulator to wheel the keezer under my chain hoist.

It's super easy. You need a gas post, poppet valve, and keg plug adapter for the outside:

Make sure the post and the adapter have the same threading (Corny or Firestone). The above pic came from a KegWorks eBay auction as a set, but I pieced mine together from Williams Brewing. Cheapest overall prices I could find.

And a gas bulkhead:

I got mine from CHI Company because they had different sizes. I bought one for the keezer and one for my rolling kegerator so I can swap my tank between them as needed:

Throw on a swivel nut and hose barb on the inside and you're all set!

EDIT: Also need nylon flare washers for either end of the bulkhead to prevent leaks.

I actually used a 1/4 sheet covering over mdf, but they do have it in thicker material from here http://www.bamboorevolution.com/products/veneer/index.htm

The only regulator I have at the moment is attached to my CO2 tank outside the kegerator. I'm working on getting/building a secondary to go inside, but right now everything's at the same pressure.

Seems like a lot of expense. I have used a brass pipe with a nipple on both ends through the collar and now I just run the hose through and call it a day.

It cost me about $30, but now I can use my CO2 for other applications while leaving my kegerator pressurized, like if I'm using it on my rolling kegerator or replacing the tank, which is well worth it to me.

Here's mine. This was from last year. The one showing the lid open is from before I had everything hooked up. I wanted to make it easier to lift kegs in and out, so I wanted the collar to lift with the lid. In hindsight, it was a pain the ass to build (my stepdad built it for me) and should have just attached the collar to the freezer body. Oh well, it's been an awesome collar and kegerator. There is now a 3rd tap on it.

Didnt want to magnet a drip tray to the front of my wonderfully painted keezer so I came up with this instead.

Routed out a bit on the back of the facing board for the shelf bracket and all the weight is supported against the keezer itself.

Oh and cant forget this

I built my collar with the bare minimum of tools about 4 years ago. But have since gotten into woodworking and have much nicer tools now. I'd love to make a new collar, but this one is getting the job done just fine for now.

Borrowed my keezer idea from many of the threads I have seen on here. I started out with a white frigidaire 7.2cu/ft chest freezer and painted it black with an appliance epoxy. My collar was constructed from pine with about 5 coats of Bombay mahogany stain/poly combo with a conditioner. Just started finishing it up last night. Still need to attach my drip tray.
