Hey maybe I'm just looking for some reassurance, but the situation is this: my first partial mash oatmeal stout is really tasty, the right color, everything. Its been in bottles 1 week only so far. Put in about 3.6oz priming sugar for just under 5 gallons. Bottle made a small "pfft" that made me smile when I opened it. However there was almost no carbonation at all. Its only been 1 week (I just wanted to try one), but I did "cold crash" it for about 2 days prior to bottling at the suggestion of someone on the forum (and I bottled it cold). It was in my garage and probably in the upper 30s/low 40s. FWIW, there appeared to be no sediment in my bottle, although I didn't pay strict attention at the time. Do you think it will carb up OK?

What temp is it stored at right now? Try keeping it warm, around 70F during this phase so that the yeast can do their job. Give it some more time and you should be good to go.

Yes, but with only 3.6 oz of priming sugar they will be less carbed up than a "regular" bottle carbonation. It's not really too little, as I would have used 4.25 ounces for 4.5 gallons, but it's on the low side.

Andrew862 - its at about 68-70 consistently. So I'm OK there I think.

Yooper - thanks for the feedback - I was trying to follow one of the online calculators for the style, but kind of wish I had erred on the high side now. Sounds like that would have been better.

Just providing followup to my flat beer concerns. Oatmeal stout is carbed, although pretty low due to me using an online calculator and going with just 3.6 oz corn sugar/4.75 gallons. three weeks in the bottle now @70F. Its good beer, very smooth, I am pleased. Sorry for the poor photo, its an old phone.

1 week is to early to expect full carbonation with any beer. I agree with not adding the full 4.5 - 5oz that most priming sugars are sold in. I like my stouts, or any beer above 7% to be on the less fizzy side.
