Cold Break...from hell?

First time I've ever seen cold break like this. Did a double 10G batch today, Bee Cave Haus Pale and BM Centennial Blonde. Ground water too hot down here in SC to get to pitching temps from just CFC (I can match ground water but no more) so put carboys in fridge to get rest of the way down. Went out a minute ago and found this, I'm sure it's fine but has anyone ever seen cold break like this?

Sometimes i do a no chill in a 5 gallon pyrex carboy and thats how it looks every time. The first time i saw it it blew my mind.

Looks like the extreme freezer temps allowed for some crazy coagulation of the suspended proteins. Nice clarity as well.

2 tablets per brew (11G batches)

did you add the yeast before putting in the fridge? how long did you put them in and how cold you got your fridge?

Pitched yeast ~6am this morning, waited till all 4 carboys were around 66F. Put them in fridge yesterday at around 86F, with an STC-1000 controlling fridge (fridge set at lowest temp) and STC-1000 set to 66F with probe in wort in thermowell.

Last night when I posted this they were around 69F.

That seems like an awful lot. I've been using half a tablet the last year or so in 6 gallon batches and I think it's more than enough. The only time I've seen this happen is too much irish moss or whirlflock etc

I use 1 tablet on 13 gallons....seems a bit much but I don't think that would cause it.

that's my kind of cold break! it rubs the LME on its' skin. it does this when it's told or it gets the wort chiller again.

Me too! Actually it happened twice... The first time I thought "How did a wadded up rag get in the bucket?!?" But as I tried to pull the 'rag' out it broke apart and I sighed with relief! It's super weird to see it but yeah, it's cold break and not an issue.
