I just added two pounds of toasted coconut into my DIPA using the "Depth Charge" dry hopping tool. I toasted the coconut at 300F for 30 minutes, then added into the sanitized mesh strainer, then submerged it (it wouldn't all fit, so I boiled a muslin bag and threw the rest of the coconut into that).

My problem now is that the mesh canister isn't fully submerged into the beer, even though it's filled to the brim with toasted coconut. I'm not worried about flavor loss, but is there a contamination risk from the portion of the coconut inside the canister that isn't touching the beer?

Here's a picture:

Thanks for the tips!

Is that the bagged 'nut floating in the foreground?
I'd expect there's no more risk to the stuff above the beer line in the "Depth Charge" than there is to what's floating in the bag...

Cheers!
