Ok I am collecting info on kegging and I know most people use co2 but what is the advantage of glycol. I know most commercial restaurants and bars use it but what about the average joe? Is it just cost effective to use co2?

Ok. So with glycol can you go with out using a fridge or is it more for chilling the lines?

In a commercial setting, glycol is used to keep the lines and taps cool, since they are often utilized in a non-refrigerated environment. The kegs are that are servicing those lines and taps are maintained under refrigeration. Regardless of the setting, whether commercial or residential, CO2 is required to provide and maintain carbonation in the beer.
