Finally getting around to doing a siphon from my glass carboy to keg using a closed system and pushing it via co2.

Question is whether people have any clogging issues with the racking cane using this type of system? I frequently have various dry hopping items floating around directly in my carboy (no bag, etc). This has caused some clogging issues in the past with a traditional siphon, but wondering if a co2 siphon will make things better or worse for me? I should make it clear that I am doing co2 transfers now to avoid oxygen exposure and not really doing it to help my clogging issues, because I don't even know if it will help that issue!

I cover the tip of the cane with nylon mesh with an SS washer inside to keep the "bag" from collapsing or being sucked up the cane. After CO2 purging the cane and line I start the racking with the tip well above the trub line then more or less chase the beer down. All that with the carboy propped backwards a bit so the last half gallon is easier to draw...

Thanks. That's pretty much identical to my system. Do you have a metal cover piece on the bottom of the cane (inside the bag) or is the mesh bag in place of the metal cover piece?

There never was anything but a straight cut tube, so no, just the mesh, the washer and rubber band, sanitized after assembly/before use...

Cheers!

Hmmm...interesting. My cane came with a little metal cover (see pix) which I assume would act a little bit like a filter.
