I recently purchased Clone Brews by Szamatulski and the one step in most of the recipes is something like: Sparge the grains with 1 gallon water...

Can I basically pour a gallon of water through grains and add it to the wort?

Yeah, it's probably obvious to anyone who knows what their doing.... I'm pretty new.

Thanks!

Grace and peace,
tim

The first step is to steep crushed grains.
2nd step is this "sparge" (which seem more of rinsing than what I read about sparging, but like I said, I'm pretty new!)
After that, bring to a boil and add DME, lactose, etc...
