I just obtained a 55 gallon plastic barrel, in which I intend to ferment. It originally held an iodophor dairy product. Any ideas what would be the best solvent/soap to easily remove the residue inside the barrel?

Straight ethanol or isopropyl alcohol would work. Buy a bottle of 70% isopropyl from the pharmacy and poor it is and swirl it around. Might need a few bottles and will be expensive but iodine is stubborn.

Make sure you rinse it well, isoproyl is not friendly to your body, yeast or actually anything.
