I just purchased a used garden hose style counterflow wort chiller. It is in great shape and has only been used a couple of times, but I do not know how it was cleaned after its last use.

I want to make sure that it is clean and sanitary before it comes in contact with wort.

Any sugestions?

Should be fine by running some pbw through the chiller. I would probably run the solution through in both directions. Follow that up by running starsan through it.

Given that you just bought it, I recommend the above advice (PBW followed by starsan).

For normal use, I usually just run water through it after each use to flush anything out.

However, with each use of the CFC, I always recirculate boiling wort through it for ~10 minutes during the final stages of the boil to ensure that it gets fully sterilized.
