Looking to get into kegging and found the following on CL for 30 bucks:

My question is, can regulators and the like go bad over time? I would definitely replace the lines, but I was wondering if this would be "safe" for a first time kegger. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Do you have a CO2 tank? Bring it over with and test the regulators to see if they hold a register the pressure accurately. That's a great price for usable components from that lot.

Probably not much usable there. The lines need replacing, the faucet might be ok, but I can't see the tower and it doesn't look very good.

If you're going to actually use a sanke tap, for commercial kegs, that might work out and it's hard to say about the regulators but they do get dirty and stop working at times and if they've ever been dropped they'd be shot.

If you're going to use corny kegs to keg (most homebrewers do), the only thing that is probably usable is the regulator. Since brand new regulators go for $45 or so for the cheapest ones, I'd probably pass on this deal.

Well, if even 1 of those regulators work then your already ahead of what you paid. Assuming your going with pin lock or ball lock kegs, you won't need those couplers so you could sell those here and make likely more than you paid for the whole lot. And you'll have a tap faucet it looks like...a little TLC needed ofcourse.

I say go for it.

Hmmm... tough call. I actually just got two ball log 5gal corny kegs the other night so that's what I'm working with. Given that, does it change your recommendations at all?

Those dispensers are for sanke kegs. It's not a big deal to not use them, but they'd be no use to you at all.

You'd still need the connectors for the ball locks, the beer line, gas, etc, and the faucet looks gnarly (and I don't know about the tower), so aside from the regulator(s) possibly being usable for you, there isn't much there that you can use.

Take a pass looks like someones garage trash...the one regulator looks my welding torch regulator (Acetylene-the flared with the male thread connector.)

With your new kegs $30 could be spent much more wisely.

It would seem I'm out numbered :D

My personal thought would be test them. But, since that's not possible, it's up to you. You should be able to find some good deals on the classifieds here or homebrewfinds.com.

Good luck.

Me too , but that stuff looks nasty...he's a new corny kegger $30 on fittings and a co2 manifold can get him some decent mileage.
