Hey guys, got a nb Irish stout kit and I'm wanting to attempt to make it a chocolate stout out of it, trying to get a subtle but noticeable chocolate taste, I have yet to have success at finding nibs locally so cocoa is all I have to work with to this point. Is there any other form of chocolate that would be acceptable to add? And if only using cocoa when would be the best time to add it, and how much?

From the reading I have done it would be best to use a chocolate extract. Then add it at time of bottling/kegging. Add till desired flavor. Just in case you have the time and have trouble finding chocolate extract:
1 1/2 cups of Vodka
3/4 cup of cocoa powder

Let sit for 6+ weeks till desired strength.

Hope this helps out.
