Can anybody make sense of the green China Keg Supplier Ad on this page? If I click on it, the page I'm taken to is half english have hieroglyphics... If anyone can decipher it, can they let me know if they're a big distributor/producer of kegs for the big boys, or if they're selling cheap knock-offs to us hobbiers? And how cheap is a new 1/2 barrel.... cheap enough to buy and hack apart?

I never even noticed the ad until I saw this thread. I went to the website but I couldnt even find any prices listed anywhere.

I dont see the ad, but if we're talking about cheap chinese suppliers, my family owns a manufacturing facility in China, and anything chinese I have them order, then I get cheap shipping to the US by container.

If there was a lot of interest, Im sure that I could arrange a "knock-off" sanke purchase for members... I'd first have to figure out pricing and the like.Everything would be shipped to Los Angeles, then out.

Cheers

Lucas

Just doing a quick poke around the net, I found chinese manufacturers listing the kegs at $40 each, without a bulk discount. If you've done any business in China, you know that price is very negotiable.

I would posit to say that you could get that price down to $30 easy, and lower with more bulk.

The costs would arise when you needed them shipped to you locally or within the conus.

Well when you order them I will take 10, shipped up north if they are $50 shipped to my door. Otherwise I can beg and barter around the local breweries for less.

I think a lot of people would be interested in new sankes, including myself, if the price was right and they were decent quality. I would hack one apart for another keggle. Others might actually use them to keg.

Now, can you get new cornies for $5 - $10 a piece?

ummm, sincerely not meaning to be rude to anyone of Chinese descent or who does business with China, but is anyone going to guarantee these kegs are made of the proper materials that are food safe?

I know the material SAYS AISI304 (1.4301)=Asia Paper Stainless Steel, but no real way to know.

I would be in for some kegs for too. I would buy quite a few if I got the chance. I've been calling everyone to try to buy kegs, and can't find anywhere. I'm currently on a wait list at chicompany, but can't find anywhere else. There are posts everywhere on this board talking about acquiring kegs legally, and if this were to be a possibility I think it would be great.

Thats why you always ask for samples of any and all product you buy that is made in china.

No offense taken, my family is born and bred in Europe, but for the last 8 years we've had a manufacturing facility in China. We manufacture and distribute furniture.

You'd be amazed at some of the factories out there. I had a chance to check out one of Nike's factories, and it was amazing.... and not in a good way. So dont believe it when Nike says that they care about employees or the environment.

So I've been poking around on pricing, and the main question that comes up is the spear style. I didnt even realize that there were about 5 differing styles to choose from.

Any input on this?

Initially, I'd probably arrange to buy about 100 sanke's, if there were deposits for all of them, since I'd be paying up front for all of them.

As to cornies, I would be able to arrange those as well... might be a better seller, but dont think that it would meet and/or beat the $16 prices we can get from members on this forum, but they would be new.

What would the minimum order be? Do you have any idea of shipping costs?

At the moment, I dont even know if this is feasible. Just doing a little bit of background checking on this.

As to shipping, I have no clue initially, but could say that anyone in the Los Angeles area would be able to pickup in person from our warehouse down there, and I could arrange shipping to the San Francisco bay area, and people could pickup from that area as well... shipping anywhere else would depend on two many things to quote.

Once I get concrete answers on pricing and all that, I would then start an official sanke group purchase thread!

keep the feedback coming and I'll work my angle.

did they give you a list of the 5 different kinds?

No they did not. I'll assume they are talking about threaded Euro style vs. US style which has retaining clips that we're all used to pulling out with pliers.

Then there are ball locks vs pin lock, if you can understand that!

Cheers

Lucas

What I mean by ball vs pin lock is that the center spear has a ball bearing or a flat pin activated "hole."

Hope that makes sense.

I've seen some sankes on ebay before and it seemed like the average shipping cost was about $20. So if you can get a bulk buy for around $30 a keg plus $20 shipping I would definately be in for at least two of them.
