I posted part of this in another area, so forgive possible redundancy.

I am going on a shopping spree at Home Depot tomorrow with hopes of getting what I need to build:
1. Cooler based mash tun.
2. Immersion chiller.
3. Turkey fryer based brew kettle.

I found a great guide with parts list here for the Mash Tun. Does anyone know of similar threads for building a wort chiller and/or kettle?

I envision putting the same parts into an aluminum turkey fryer pot as I do in the cooler. This way transferring wort to Carboy will be a matter of opening a valve, and I'll get another layer of straining!!

Ok send me those threads, gang! THANKS A MILLION!!!

You can basically do the same thing as the cooler to a BK. The only difference is you will want a pick up tube instead of the mesh. Brass is OK (just clean off the surface lead), SS is better and 1/2" for size is pretty much the standard.

I highly recommend bargainfittings.com, a vendor here. They sell complete kits and everything you need to do the conversion on a BK as well as the MLT cooler, in SS and 1/2". They also have guides on how to do it. While you are there do not forget the silicon tubing, IMO it is a must have...

Looking around here before your wallet comes out of your pocket, is a good idea. As a recent beginner I find the more gallons I brew, the equipment I want really changes.

So other than being a registered smart ass for the helpful links I made above, start with the minimum equipment, and customize yourself a brew kettle after a batch or two.

Cheers :mug:

That bargainfittings.com site is pretty cool. Pretty slick kits, I have to say!

Ok, the smart ass links... pretty cool! I was like, haha just a link to goggle, whatever. THEN....THEN the search bar filled out automatically. SLICK!!!
