Peter Mayhew dies. 7' 3", perfect height for the big wookie. He played chewbacca from '77 to 2015. He wasn't an actor, but a nurse, and was recruited for the role simply for his height. The iconic sound that chewie made was not from the tall actor but from a black bear call, though other animal sounds were used by the film's sound director.
