Brewing first kriek... Noticing the surface starting to accumulate a mold surface... Instructions say this will happen... Question.. See white buildup on some spots... Is this OK? Beer seems fine.

Like fuzzy green n white mold? Mold is not good. Look up mycotoxins

White buildup could be a lacto pellicle. What did you use (bugs/yeast) to ferment it?

Yes. I used belgian sour mix then added pediococcus. Supposed to ferment for one year... There are specks of white and you can see the mold layer developing.. The recipe says a mold layer will develop and to leave alone but am just curious as to what I should see since I can't get an visuals online.

Mold is not in any commercial beer making pitchable product (at least on purpose) that I can think of. It's a pellicle. Bacteria and Brett can create them. You'll also eventually see some 'ropiness' from the pedio. Kinda looks like a big man o' war is in your beer. Don't worry that will fade with time.

The pellicle is a protective layer formed by the bugs/yeast to keep certain things out (mainly oxygen) while they do their thing.

The only true way to tell if you have normal pellicle formation or a more sinister and unwanted mold would be to post some pictures so we can see.
