The Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glasses that these appear to borrow heavily from sell for ~$10 each via Amazon so I'd say the price is fair...

Cheers!

I think it is funny that they advertise "Each glass has a different hop on the glass " but then use the same picture on every glass, like all hops look the same... Still looks like a good deal though.

Underneath the hop is the name of a hop. They list all six.

So to remember which glass is yours you have to remember which hop you got.

Nice glasses but it is gimmicky. I bought 2 dozen of these 20 ounce glasses at about $3 per glass including shipping. May have been KaTom. Good friends can take their glass home with them when you have 24 of them. 12 ounce pour in this one.

I realize it's probably 90% mental but different glasses can make a difference in how enjoyable a beer is for me. Haven't tried an etched glass but since bubbles will release aroma which affects perception of flavor I don't see way this wouldn't enhance a beer, assuming it actually has a good aroma to begin with. $40 plus shipping for 6 glasses seems a bit steep for me though.

I saw that they also had different hop names, and I am far more likely to remember the name than I would a hop shape, I just think it is funny that they seem to believe that all hops look alike where there are a wide range of shapes.

I have a number of different style lasered glasses, stemmed and not, and definitely appreciate the aroma enhancement caused by the continuous streaming of bubbles from the bottom.
But there is one glass - a Samuel Smith pint very similar to the glass in flar's picture - where the lasering is wildly excessive. If I pour a typical 2.5 volume ale in it and let it sit for two minutes it grows the head rising inches above the top of the rim .
That's just crazy...

Cheers!

I have a bunch of those Sam Adams glasses. Occasionally I've seen them at Menards on sale for $4 a glass. And then, later, for about $1.50 a glass. The price Amazon charges for them is ridiculous.

They *are* very nice glasses for drinking, however. :)

I was in Stillwater OK last weekend and visited Iron Monk Brewing. With a flight you got a free pint glass and I picked what they called their rye ale glass which looks a lot like what you linked to. I have to say I really like this glass. Easy to hold, etched for nucleation, great for pale ale, ipa type beers.

My local beer store routinely has them for $1. I suspect they're freebies given by the distributers.
Anyone have any input on these? Gimmick or worth spending $40 for 6?

They look kind of cool. Same combo design as Sam Adams... Worth it? I dunno. If you don't mind spending that I'm sure they're good glasses and youd have a set. If you do mind it there's lots of other options out there. I'm not a big believer in glassware making a difference.

It's kind of gimmicky. I think if you really want beer glasses, especially if serving amongst a few friends and different beer styles, you can easily buy different glasses.

I personally like the following shapes:

https://www.saveur-biere.com/en/beer-glasses/306-hoegaarden-grand-cru-glass-33-cl.html
https://www.saveur-biere.com/en/beer-glasses/7306-teku-keep-it-craft-glass-25-cl.html

from which you can drink literally all kind of beer styles.

Looks like a fair price, and the glasses are pretty cool, if I wanted them I'd go for it.

I'ma redneck so of coarse I mostly drink from Mason jars, but I have a small collection of various glasses from different breweries or cities I've visited. It's nice to have some different ones. Those look like the Sam Adams glasses as mentioned above, and those are about the best as far as I'm concerned.

Mugs are awesome and I have an assortment at home.
During fall Oktoberfest, Paulaner will market and ship a very nice Isar dimpled 1L mug with their export Wiesn beer. I have a paired set. They go for silly money on Amazon because they're so popular.
They're nice and sturdy, too ... filling one up brings out the uncivilized tavern fly in me who wants to bang it on a wooden table, just for the hell of it.

Glasses? Bah.

I've seen Sam Adams glasses for 88 cents at Good Will.

Pint glasses? Dollar Store: $1.

I just gave away 50-100 German beer mugs.

I still have over 200 mugs and glasses from Germany, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Korea, etc.

Do you have stange Kolsch glasses? Those. Are. Awesome.
PM me if you'd feel like selling a few.

I do have a Stange for a Roggenbier (rye), but it's not for sale. Sorry.

One of my I son-in-law's and the husband of one of my granddaughters are also brewers.

They'll get first dibs when I start on my downhill slope of life.

I lived 40 miles from Munich for 4 years, did another 5 year tour up in Bamberg.

In the later 1970s I "collected" a 1 liter Mass from each of Munich's 6 major breweries. A true 6 pack. LOL! In all I've been to 7 different Oktoberfests with 12-13 visits in total...(and 8 Mardi Gras).

A couple times a year I used to get off work and drive to Munich just to eat (and drink) dinner at the Hofbrauhaus...and stay for hours.

Did some time in Augsburg and Bad Aibling some years back.
On a trip back from a short tour in Afghanistan in 2001-2002, I passed through Munich and had a few brews at the Hofbrauhaus with a couple pals on our way to Kitzbühel, Austria. Good times.

I was in Augsburg from 1975-1979. Great town. I've been back a couple of times visiting some German friends.

Been to Kitzbuhl and other places in Austria too.

Was in Bamberg, 1999-2004, deployed to Kosovo 3 days after the bombing stopped (some houses were still smoking and many vils were deserted) in Jun 1999 and again in 2000.

This was my favorite glass for almost a year, liberated from the night bar at the Grand Summit Hotel at the end of a rather stuporous night following the 40th BD party for one of my DILs.

Unfortunately, The Spousal Unit recently discovered her brand new exotic granite countertop is unforgiving wrt knocking over a drying stemmed tulip (that was as close to a dark day as it gets here :()

This thread inspired me to order a pair...gotta have a spare, it appears ;)

Cheers!

I have a tulip glass I bought from a local brewery. I always seem to reach for it when I pour. It's nothing fancy but it's my favorite. I have various other glasses, some regular pint glasses, some mugs which I never use and a Teku glass from Pat O's on Bourbon St in Nola. It was a glass that came with a drink my wife ordered called a BJ, short for something else LOL. It's actually a cool glass that she uses. I just cant bring myself to use a glass that came with a drink called a BJ. Psychological I guess.

Here’s my 2 cents, I must admit that I just screamed through most of the post. If the glasses are what you are looking for and they bring a smile to you, then I say go for it, they are worth it... As for me, I’m a cheap bumb, bought 2 glasses that were for .99 cents each, now I also do not entertain. Of course things may change in 5 years( when I hope to have my basement/man cave/brew house set up)

I have a few dollar store glasses as well. For another reasonable source of a variety of beer and wine glasses check out IKEA. I'm not sure if they'll ship, but if there's one nearby could be worth the trip, and you can check out what they have online before making the trip. First two pic are IKEA they were on sale for under a buck and the last pic is a dollar tree glass. If they break, no great loss.

I would ask myself what my intened use for the glass is, as well as who will be using them.

I agree with Aprichman regarding Spiegelau: I have a set for Pilsner, Stout, IPA, Boudreaux, White and Flute. For personal enjoyment, I will use the right glass for the style. If hosting a nice dinner party, I serve in the proper glass. But if the gang is over, traditional pub pint glasses are my go-to. The Spiegelau are too fragile, too pricey and will be underappreciated during drinking debauchery.
