Just thought I would let you guys know, I found my boil kettle for $12 at Dollar General. Its a 5 gallon Stainless Steel pot. Its very light and seems pretty cheap, but its been holding up really well.

I don't know if this should be in the Beginners forum, but just figured I would share.

I have the same kettle! nice find!. watch carrying it full or pouring from full. upper lip cracked for me. I patched crack with JB weld putty from harbor freight. has worked fine since for stove top partial mash. I've re-enforced top edge of big 10 gallon economy brew pot with 3 tubes of jb weld putty before drilling out for a drain valve on my 10 gallon (same thickness). That one cracked too. and cost more than $12.

good find worked well when I was stove topping.

shoot.. I paid about $50 for my 5G stainless when I started. $12 for a kettle that gets your extract batches started is a great deal.

Glad to hear someone has had it as well. One of my biggest concerns when I was collecting my equipment to get startd was the brew kettle, and finding this one definately got me brewing much quicker than I otherwise would have. I do partial mashes in it now, and I am considering getting another one for sparge water. At $12 it seems to work pretty well. If anything breaks I'm not even going to bother trying to fix it, probably would just buy another for $12.

My Big Lots stopped carrying them $3 jb weld fix works just fine on both my kettles.

when they where in stock I had a few new brewers pick that size up... just works great!

big lots, other poster found his at dollar general. my big lots hasn't carried them in a while, hopefully they are coming back. $12 is a steal for a 5gal stainless pot. just be aware it's 5gallons to the very top of the rim. can do a 3 gallon boil comfortably on the stove top.
