Cheap brewski

My goal is to make the easiest and cheapest beer from all ingredient that I grow in my own backyard that taste great and gives a good buzz. I wonder how much lawn I would need to make enough barley and hops for about 10 gallons of beer in one harvest. I wonder if anybody knows

I imagine you'd need at least a couple acres to grow all that. And hops take a couple years to mature.

Good article (region specific, but I doubt that's important in this thread). Supports the OP's 400 sq ft premise. "Cheap" is still not likely to be attained in this vein.

If you had a place for the malting, and not count that in your space allotment, that would help.
