Hey guys we've got a new beer fb group in charlotte that has been gaining steam. Much less BS than the "metro" one. Its called "The Official Charlotte Craft Beer Forum", and its run by a group of local folks. Pretty good stuff so far. The main point is to keep everyone updated on releases, when things hit the shelf, and general CLT beer discussion. If you're in the charlotte area, concord, rock hill, etc.. then come join us! Not much trading, more just for local Charlotte stuff.

The Raosting Company has fantastic and somewhat wholesome chicken dishes, one of my biggest go-tos. Ru Sans and Nikkos are good for sushi, Fud at Salud has great takes on waffle sandwiches, meatball subs, cool grilled sanwiches, etc.. They are also in the same building as salud, my go-to bottle shop. If you're looking for hole on the wall mexican, Miguels is really the only choice, and then there are all kinds of hip offerings in noda and plaza midwood area. In noda, jack beagles for late night hot dogs and mac n cheese, or growlers pour house for house made sausages and oyster shots (they're actually really good). Those are just a few.

For BBQ, do saucemans.

hope this helps
You mean you're not into a thread of chugging videos? Send me the details on this new group

I've not been yet, but keep hearing good things. Does anyone know if their beers get distributed outside of their taproom?

I don't think they do, although they made a BA saison that might have gotten some district.

They are canning and releasing their double IPA on Friday. I'll be driving through Concord for work and am thinking about grabbing some.

Any suggestions for a place with great beer selection that would also be prominently displaying tournament games next Thursday for noon tip offs?

Anyone know of any bottle shops/non-breweries that fill crowlers of stuff on tap?

Would love to a one-stop shop to get a few crowlers filled from various local breweries. Not interested in glass.

btw greensboro and boone got lou pepe gueuze iris and reg gueuze today. No sightings in CLT yet.

Anyone had the new (maybe not new?) Cubano Walker 4-packs? Doesn't seem like I'm gonna be able to track down an App Walker, so looking for second best at this point. I had a bomber of this stuff a while back and it was a drain pour...possibly even full blown infected? Wondering if the newer version is improved cause I'm afraid to pull the trigger without feedback first.

Cubano is good but I've had a couple that have been highly oxidized somehow. The good ones I've had were pretty dern good.
*Edit: This was back when they first came out like 2 years ago though

So have there always been 4-packs AND bombers? I guess I was under the impression that the bomber I had was pretty old when I had it (maybe last summer) and I just recently started seeing the four packs...so assumed that was newer packaging...but I could just be a blind goober.

^^ went to check out Sweet Union Brewing w/ JohnnyNC - cool space, but everything needs work. Beer was basically just bad to average homebrew and service was pretty bad. I had a single beer and JohnnyNC had two...and I ended up getting charged for 2 and him for 3. I'll go back and give em another shot after they have some time to work out the kinks. They were playing some kick ass tunes though.

In other Union County news...Dreamchaser's is releasing more Yard Breather cans on the 19th along with a new DIPA...hoping it's as good as Yard Breather:

While we're talking about Charlotte breweries, does anyone find wooden robot beers to be a little boring? I think its great they have put out two jammy sours, but there is zero funk in them from what I recall, and their IPAs are just ok in my book. Like they make beer good enough to be considered true to style, but there's no character there. Maybe they are worried about taking chances given their customer base in south end? I dunno. Don't get my wrong, I like their beers, some of the best in the Charlotte area, but nothing has really hit me as unique.

Heading to Charlotte for Memorial Weekend. From the past few pages. Seems like I need to check out Dreamchasers (will have a rental car), Salud, Legion, and Hiest. Am I missing anything? will be there Friday to Monday. Thanks in advance.

As much as I'd like to confirm that Dreamchaser's should be on that list, I wouldn't bother...they really just have the one good beer so far IMO (Yard Breather) and maybe this new DIPA, but don't know for sure yet since it's not out. Other than that, they're pretty run of the mill as of now. But only a year in, so I have high hopes...

For bottle shops, I'd go with Salud for sure and probably Good Bottle, although they're a bit pricier. I also have had good luck with both Carolina Beer Temple locations and with Vintner Wine Market.

For breweries I'd say Wooden Robot first and foremost as they're my favorite overall...then Legion...then...sigh...Heist, I suppose, as their beer really is great, I've just had less than stellar personal experiences there.

See post above....haha...I love WR...probably my favorite brewery overall actually.

Haven't had anything other than their hops mostly (other than that coffee blonde, which is good for what it is), but I think they are all extremely well made. I wouldn't call them unique, necessarily, but I'm not sure what I would actually consider unique within the beer landscape these days. Everyone just copies each other. What brewery in the Charlotte area do you think is putting out unique beer (that doesn't suck)? Heist copies the Tree House/Alchemist/Trillium/NEIPA trend. Legion seems to be following more of a farmhouse thing. They are all predefined genres if you ask me. Not trying to **** on the opinion...just curious specifically as to what "chances" they should be taking maybe?

I should add that if you feel like taking a bit of a journey, Fonta Flora and Olde Hickory are maybe an hour to an hour and a half north of the city.
