Well, got my nitro tank filled/swapped and was about to hook it back up...

I noticed the nipple o-ring was damaged so decided to google a little to see what is the correct size o-ring for the CGA-580 nipple...

Almost every CGA-580 fitting I came across has no o-ring and no o-ring groove? Maybe like 1% of the pictures would show a grooved nipple and o-ring.

My regulator is a standard Taprite CO2/CGA-320 reg and I had installed a CGA-580 fitting years ago. I don't recall where I got the fitting.

Before I hook my nitro back up, I'm thinking I should replace the nipple with a non o-ring type as that is 99% of what I'm seeing on google.

Looks like the Taprite LHT part;

I can't be sure if this is the proper o-ring from Taprite;

But I can be sure that this one I only have a Canadian link for is the correct one;

..I just can't verify the dimensions, but I hope it helps.

EDIT: Looked around a bit more and I can verify the Taprite link above IS the correct o-ring:

If I google "nitro beer regulator" I get several pics of nipples with o-rings.

But if you google CGA-580, which is the actual type valve on the nitro tanks...all the pictures are NO o-ring nipples.

go figure...

I'm sure either works fine. Just very strange.

I have o-rings kits with multiple sizes...

I use duck and I'm finding both with and without an o-ring, but the big issue is getting one with the left hand thread.
In the old days, owing to brass being more maleable, it was fine to rely on connections sans-gaskets to rely on torque to get a good seal, but just like people who put their records or CDs on a table instead of back in the sleeve, a multitude of idiots have found ways to mis-handle and deform both regulators and tank seats. (I once witnessed an idiot who thought he was being 'proactive' use a flat screwdriver to 'clean the crud' out of the regulator seat on an acetylene tank before installing the regulator he had tossed with a clatter, onto a nearby cluttered work-bench.)
The o-ring makes sense so while not implying you'd treat your own gear as above, I'd recommend just replacing the o-ring.
If you have any trouble ordering the part, you could probably confirm with a fellow member;

Here's his company and the o-ring in question;
