The incandescent light in the brew room burned out, so I popped in a new CFL (compact florescent light). I got to thinking that if forescent lights are not recommended for brew rooms, then aren't CFL's just the same thing in a different package?

I'm going to change back to incandescent, but this might be a head's up to other brew Maestros.

CFLs are not a problem unless they are right next to a clear container of beer. Yes, they put out UV, but not much. I ran the calculations at one point and a 40 watt bulb touching a clear bottle of beer would take weeks to skunk it.

Yeh it is a really minor issue in the grand scheme, but best to avoid them if you can. A little light here or there will be fine.
