Hello. My dad had given me my grandpa's old kegerator. It didn't blow cold so i was hoping all it needed was new refrigerant. I took it to a professional and was informed there was a leak in the coil in the fins. Too expensive a fix to be worth it. So I decided I'd salvage all i could and transfer it to a new fridge unit. I chose the danby model dar044a4bdd for my fridge.

I see a lot of you doing corny kegs but I'm fitting a half keg and having external co2.

Cut off door crap.

Sprayed some expanding foam and cut this plastic from the old kegerator's door.

Pilot hole for tower. The tower is also from my grandpa's kegerator.

Based on several danby build threads on this forum I drilled in this area with confidence.

Door came out great.

To properly fasten the tower I used a cutting board from the dollar store cut to size, and bolted through it. It was cheap and moisture resistant. The light housing has also been trimmed.

I still have to drill the hole for the co2 line to enter. I was thinking somewhere on the back hump for that. Then I need new lines. Sanitize. And beer! Maybe a cooling fan. I'll update later.

Oh ya one question. What tower gasket do I need? I see 3 inch ones but my tower has an OD of about 4.25". Cant find one bigger than 3". Advice? Just make one?

Here is the old unit.

I bought a 3" gasket we'll see how it works.

Too bad about the old kegerator, but new build looks great. I just finished my own build using this same mini-fridge and while I'm using it for only one corny at the moment, I did all the measurements to see of it would fit a half. Nice to see that it fits well!

Yah the half keg has to sit on the lip for the drain channel to fit, but hey it fits!

Drilled the gas line hole.

Im waiting on a new length of red gas line then I'll silicone the hose in place to seal the hole.

How it looks with the keg in. Still need to cut out the light.

Excited for the first pour.

Thanks for sharing. I plan to move my CO2 outside, maybe the gauges too. How did you pick the location to drill? Is it safe to turn the fridge upside down? Or did you drill from inside.

I drilled from the inside. I picked that location after looking things over a bit. Decided it was unlikely to have a coolant line there, and just went for it.
