I guarantee the neckbeards walking out of Casey with six cases of beer have zero intentions of drinking it all themselves.

I walked out of there with several cases this past release, but that was because I was picking up for a couple Extended Family members.

Just looking at the gaps in dates I'm wondering if I'm missing any. Anyone got any Saison that aren't the dates above or know of a bottling not listed above?

According to Untappd Blend 1 was 5/30/14 (maybe you just missed the zero) but that's probably not the point. Anyway, again going by Untappd, that's all of the bottlings out there.

Untappd also says 1/17/15, and I've seen the bottle, it's 7, so human error is an issue there as well.

I am going to be on the hunt for East Bank, I loved this most recent batch, and noticed he said there was a difference. Is it noticeable enough to only hunt down the most recent batch or are they close?

I drank the two blends side by side and thought the new one really was that much better. For the cost of a bottle, I would just be looking for new blend.

Oak Theory magnums were $58. East Bank (most recent blend) magnums were $42.

Vintage Fruit Stand "grab bag" bottles were $22. He had Peach, both Plums, and Blackberry all from last year, and it was a random grab.

Choice of either a magnum or a Fruit Stand (1 per person) per trip through the line.

It was a chilly morning, but turned out to be a beautiful day! And the Cherry Cut was a hell of a nice surprise. Pretty well-carb'd after what, three days in the bottle?? It was absolutely loaded with cherry flavor/aroma.

How often do magnums go on sale? Looking for one for my 30th birthday, so if/when the time is right I can put up an ISO or something for those.

Every 2nd or 3rd release seems to have magnums. But usually not very many. It sounded like it was chill to get magnums during the winter month releases, when the roads over the rockies were a bit dicier so less people from the front range were coming, but I would expect that going forward you likely have to be one of those people spending your whole night / morning in line to get one.

I didn't see that DDB had written anything about Oak Theory yet. I tend to not enjoy really sour beers and I didn't find it oppressive at all. The body is so light and energetic that the sourness never became the driving part of the experience for me.

Definitely not right from my experience. And FWIW, Dry-Hopped Oak Theory is one of the best AWAs I've ever had. An absolutely incredible beer.

I personally liked regular oak theory better but I thought it was very cool how different the two were. Amazing how different a beer can get when the bugs have different food to snack on.

This release was my first, and I was surprised at how smooth/relaxed it was. I showed up just before 8 am, but I could have walked up at 10:30-11 if I wanted and it wouldn't have made a difference regarding getting everything I wanted.

I believe it, everything I've heard about the releases has been great (minus that first one with a few snags but seems like they learned quick how to correct those mistakes). That's why I don't understand why anyone would camp out at 2 am for this (or really any release). Hoping to make it up to one in the near future and definitely won't be bringing sleeping bags or getting in line in the middle of the night. That's the part I just don't understand.

I find the sleeping bag method much better to what the author of the article did. At least they are the very first in line and could grab bottles and still be at an trailhead out by aspen, redstone, eagle, etc for a day of hiking or mountain bike riding by noon. Waking up at 4:45 to spend all morning driving to then have to still wait for 30 or 40 people in front of you to get bottles is crazy.

But yes, spending all morning doing what you want to then showing up at the end of the release is obviously preferable to spending any time in line. I showed up at 3:45 pm to the release in March after having a great day in the mountains and walked straight to the front with no line.
