Any stores in Denver that may have Casey on the shelves? Friend is going out for work and is interested. They distribute the saison (and east bank)?

Right now Mile High Wine & Spirits has Saison and East Bank for sale, a bit pricey at like $16-17 a bottle. Mr B's and Small Batch got some too this past week but I'm not sure if they have any left, I just got a bottle of EB to see what the fuss was about. Still prefer Anna by a country mile.

I plan on attending the 1 year anniversary party in July. Am I reading the above correct? People in line at 5 am? What time does he open the doors?

Small Batch still has bottles.

I'm sure others can weigh in, but I was told that this last batch of East Bank is a completely different beast compared to the first two (and especially the second blend, which Troy was very proud of). I haven't opened a bottle yet, but I was told it's much much more dry and the honey is less apparent. So keep that in mind when you try it.

I plan to open a bottle this weekend, and I can report back at that point.

Try 3AM.

My belief is this is surely either for the glory of being first in line or straight paranoia because it's just not necessary, but I think the latter reason is the front runner. Let's try to alleviate some of the paranoia with some facts.

Facts (from the last couple "big" releases):
  1. March - Everyone in line by 11AM (opening time) got a bottle of the Mont. Cherry Fruit Stand and Batch 1 Oak Theory (and I believe AOT and DHOT as well), which was the biggest turnout yet. May - Everyone in line by 11AM (opening time) got a bottle of the Cut: Balaton Cherry. Them's are facts!
  2. If you're hungover, forget to wake up and show up at 3:00PM, expect things to be sold out...

People in line in 3 a.m. are after only one thing: magnums
You know what, this is exactly what I expected since they're were a buttload of people in front of me in line. I counted my place in line versus how many magnums were available and thought for sure I wouldn't get a magnum. WRONG. Many, many people at the front of the line walked away with their box completely magnum-less. When I finally got to the front of the line I was amazed with the selection of magnums still available.

I truly believe the campers are a direct result of the reasons I explained above, or at least what I've experienced. The $$$ of the magnums, I believe, are still steep for some. But yes, it's better to get there "early" if you want a shot at the lower bottle count items.

Anyone get a bottle of Oak Theory today? Heard Mr. B's sold out already but I'm hoping Mile High will still have a bottle for me, will report back tomorrow after I investigate.

I picked one up at Mile High totally unexpectedly. Stopped by there just to grab some "normal" beer for the weekend and saw the Oak Theory bottles on the shelf in the walk-in cooler. That was a nice surprise!

They also had a few cases of Saison and East Bank stacked on the floor with seemingly no limit.

Was talking to them last week. I guess the beer buyer drove up to Casey and bought 30 cases. They're pretty good on saison and east bank for a bit.

Not usually one for begging but if any Denverites would want to gopickitupformebro some East Bank and Saison and wouldn't mind holding until I visit in July for some Red Rocks shows would be forever be my favorite and I'd bring some Jackie O's/Ohio thankyou beers

Edit: TalkBeer people are the best, looks like I've been taken care of.

I lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for 5 years and never once made it to Casey. Haha. My beer geekdom took a huge break right when he became really popular. Doh'.. One of these days though.

He's been open less then a year (last July) so you probably didn't miss it when you lived there

I moved away three weeks ago so unfortunately I had a few chances, but honestly, I haven't had any of his beer yet. I recall reading about his story when I moved to Glenwood in 2010 in the local paper though. At that point he was just a guy with a bunch of barrels of beer that were sitting around aging. I also wasn't as into the craft scene as I am now so it was over my head.

Then just this spring I started seeing bottles pop up in local shops up there. Still no one really talks about his beer in that area. Aspen Brewing Company and Roaring Fork get all the attention in that area. Irony at its finest that I was living so close to such amazing beer and still haven't tried it. Haha

Roaring Fork brews the wort he uses for his beer.

It likely has to do with that he is only open one day a month, his bottles fly off the shelf extremely quickly, and that he doesn't do draft beer*

Except for that one keg of Saison from Freshcraft

No bottles of Season's Past for June...

Which means we need to work on Troy to push back the July release to the 11th.

I hope it doesnt get pushed back. Already bought my ticket.

A buddy of mine was at a tasting with Troy earlier this week and got to try Seasons Past. Described it as East Bank on steroids. He said it's still got a little butter hence the delay.
