I have 45 bottles of a 9% belgian strong sitting in a wine crate on my basement floor. The basement is typically between 62-65 degrees. I use a heating mat set on low underneath the crate and cover with a towel to help carbonation along.

At some point over the last week or so my 3yo son must have gotten to the temp setting on the mat and turned it from low to hi. Its pretty warm under the towel now.

Question is will this affect the beer and if so how?

Probably fine ?
Doubt it reached pasteurization levels.
Might go stale a bit sooner.

My bottled beers stay at 72 degrees and I have left them bottled for up to 2 years with no problem. I don't expect your beer to be harmed. Pretty warm is not a precise temperature though so a thermometer would give you a better idea if there is a problem.

Anything between 65 and 74 F will help carbonate your beer faster. Even if you store them at 70-72 F it will not damage your beer, so I belive there is no issue. You could just turnn the heat off and let them condition at a much lower temp.

Thanks for the feedback. It was around 78 degrees under the towel when I discovered the heat was turned up. Now it's down to 71.

You will be fine at 78*. I brew in the Phoenix summer, and with the a/c on, the spare beerroom stays between 80-82* and my beers stored therein have been fine, even the batch I waited 2 years to mellow out.
