I've just kegged my first brew and it tastes great. Carbonation seems to be OK. I can feel and see the tiny bubbles. But when I pour a pint the head is really "fizzy" like soda and sounds fizzy too. The head dies away pretty quickly but leaves behind a very drinkable beer. My keezer is set for 45deg and pressure to 14psi for 2.4 vol of co2. The brew has been under pressure for 5 days now. Any thoughts on the fizziness? I could sure use some sound advice a this point.
 
5 days is a little short at that pressure. I'd leave it a few more days at least. Also, 14 psi is a bit high for serving. I would probably leave it at 14 psi for at least another 5 days and then turn it down to around 8 to serve.
 
Well, the point of a "balanced system" is to not have to turn it down to serve. I keep mine at 11 psi all the time, for almost all beer styles (fridge is 40 degrees). If yours is at 45 degrees, and you want 2.4 volumes, 14 psi is probably perfect.

It takes about 10 days-2 weeks for the carbonation and head to really be perfect in a "set it and forget it" balanced system, so I think it'll be fine with some more time.
 
Well the pressure's been set. I guess that now I just need to forget it for a while longer. Thanks for the advice.
 
Yeah 5 days is short seems most guys set it to 12psi ish and it is ready in two weeks. For 5 days you gotta set it o 30psi for like 36 hrs and then to 12psi for the rest of the time.
 
+1 for everyone - Let it sit longer.

And if head is still a problem, you'll have to look at your process, and glasses.
Some steps in the brew process can have a significant impact on head retention.
Also, if you have a dishwasher, never use a rinse aid. It's like a head assassin. Try hand washing a glass and rinsing in plain old water.
