Carbonation drops needed for barrelling?

Hey,

I'll be picking up a straight-forward ale for my second brew:

The recommend: Brewing Sugar, Carbonation Drops.

Since I'll be barrelling, and not bottling, do I even need carbonation drops on top of brewing sugar?

I take it that I could melt some brewing sugar and just add it to the mix upon barrelling, right?
