I don't think the ingredients will matter much, but you should probably buy that expensive something or other you have had your eye on before the wedding.

Get the Carapils first. That may make her upset, but it won't be a deal breaker. Then, once things are finalized on the wedding, get the Harley.

By the way, I've got a killer recipe to get you started with the Carapils. 12 lbs carapils, 8 oz C40, 6 oz C60, 2 oz roasted barley, and 3 lbs torrified wheat for the grist. Mash at 158 for 10 minutes (just crush fine, you'll be OK). Bring to boil, hop as follows: 2 oz Magnum @ 60, 1 lb pinto beans @ 30 (helps with starch haze and OMG! the flavor contribution is to die for), 1/4 lb Fuggles @ 10, and 1 oz each of Hallertau, Galaxy, and Nelson Sauvin at flameout. Optional: 1 24oz bottle of Cayenne pepper (crushed.... obvious, right?) from your local grocer. This makes 2 gallons.

I suggest scaling that up to 25 gallons or so for the wedding. It goes quick.

But but but but

I won't have any friends after the wedding!

They will either die from gas from the beans or the 1/4lb of fugggles in a 2 gal batch will melt their faces off :(

Register at your favorite brew supplier for the wedding. It sure beats a blender or a set of guest towels.

What's your OG on that 2 gal batch? 2.0?

I see that you are unfamiliar with the section in which you posted...

That was not a serious suggestion.

As far as serious suggestions, I'd wait until you get married and then get both the sack of Carapils AND the Harley. At that point, as far as she'll be concerned it's more trouble to get the divorce than to deal with the frustration :mug:

Although in all seriousness, don't know why you'd need a full sack of carapils. I ususually only a use a couple ounces in a 5 gallon batch, if that. Unless you use lots of it all the time, and brew larger batches more often than I do, I wouldn't want to keep it that long. Buying by the 10lb bag makes a little more sense. I usually only buy base malts by the sack, other regular malts by the 10 lb, and things like carapils I buy by the pound only as I need it.

OH! I get it now. Noob stuff, I'm sure, but I'm catching on. This one is straight up Run DMC. In fact, the name of the recipe is My Nikes. It's too good for the Adidas name. I think that is from their 1.0 era. The Run DMC 2.0 stuff was pretty meh IMO.

You can sub in steamed broccoli for the pinto beans, it changes is from a hefe type beer to a cream ale kind of flavor though. Big time crowd pleaser if your family and family-to-be is a bunch of BMC wussies.

Ok, gotcha.

Insert some joke about a SMaSH beer with Carapils for superb head, and using Magnum.

Wait a minute....

All the pieces are there. You put it together.

WHAT! Detroit?! What's that? Like, you can't decide if you're East Coast or West Coast? Tupac or Biggie? If we're going Detroit, this one is like D12. It could scrub the floor with Bone Thugs.

Sorry to break the news, but the carapils will expire and lose it's head retention qualities after marriage.

I suggest investing in something that will stop fuselage alcohols, which of course cause headaches.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize we were voting for who can both simultaneously suck AND blow hardest.

And of course, it all ties back to that head retention.

Unless you watch Game of Thrones. Where people seem to have a very hard time retaining their heads.

That explains everything. ND is practically in Canada. This is Scott, isn't it?
