Update:
I ended up replacing the TPS, plugs, and one of the spark pug wires (noticed a small defect in the insulation while pulling the plugs, it was probably nothing, but what the hell....) My car has now moved form "lawn ornament" status to "putt around town" status.
I went for a little test drive, and while pretty drivable, I still noticed a few problems:
- While no longer spitting out black crud, I still have a pretty bad vibration. I notice it more when I am at low RPM's, (<2500) esp. when I am trying to maintain speed.
- Acceleration is smooth at higher RPM's, coasting is fine, and the car idles fine in park. But when I shift it into gear, or come to a stop after driving, the RPM's drop and occasionaly the engine will stall.
Thanks guys for all your help so far! If you have any more ideas on this, please share
