So I have been capping 22 ounce beer bottles filled with carbonated applewine and I was curious as to if this would be a viable method of storing and aging and if anyone knew if there was an advantage or disadvantage to this versus other methods? I know having a cork lets it breathe but I dont care for that at least not right now.

are they normal bombers? If so there aren't any problems capping them. for future reference the oxy absorbing caps will theoretically have longer shelf life.

Yeah they are normal bombers. I have been using cheap caps and I think the longest I stored anything for was a few months. I guess time will tell. I don't think any air is going to get in. They usually hiss a tad bit upon opening but not a carbonated hiss heh

Type of glass doesn't really matter as others have noted. Use the Oxy Caps if it's going to be a long time in the bottle. I bulk-aged mine in secondaries for 6 months before bottling and this saved me the hassle of trying to bottle-age it.

Biggest concern is if your bottles will hold up if you try to do a very high carbonation level (compared to beer). Carbonated Apfelwein is like a slightly apple-y dry champagne, IMO. Vastly preferred to still among my group of drinkers. I bottled at 3.0 atmospheres in 22 oz bombers and didn't have a single bomb.
