So far it seems the release of the gueuze mags were in January/February. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember getting a few in February last year. They were all January 2014 vintage bottling date.

Same bottling date, but were available when I was there in early July.

Was sipping a St Lam today and there were 2 Asian women sitting with Jean at the table next to us, apparently they were doing an interview. They were drinking a glass of Fou. Suddenly Jean digs up a super old bottle, heard him say it was a 37 year old Geuze. He poured it, the lady closest to me had a sip. Jean's phone rang, so he stands up and picks up his phone. I was eyeballing the lady who held her '79 Geuze. Next thing I know, she takes the Fou and the 37 year old in her hand and just mixes it into one glass. I puked a little in my mouth, paid my to go bottles and left. Brutal

Also, I doubt 'she' was really a 'she'. Hands like freaking snowshovels, 6"7 tall and a voice like a bear ran over by a buldozer. No offense to any transgenders on this forum though

Will be visiting Cantillon January 30th due to a last minute work trip. Any locals want to grab a drink?

Does Cantillon allow outside bottles? I'll be coming straight from a release for a certain beer that many people have probably never had.

There are times when it's appropriate, but I would save that for a share you have arranged with the owners of an establishment and/or other people.

I emailed them asking if I can bring by some SARA for my trip in February. It would be super cool to crack a West Ashley with Jean.

You and everyone else who visits.
Maybe I'm just a curmudgeon, but I've never understood why someone would want to bring outside beer to a beer establishment. The only explanation I've ever been able to muster is that they think they will somehow merit favor with the owners/workers of those establishments, which will result in preferential treatment and/or sick bottles, bro. If I was an owner/worker of a beer-centric establishment I would be really put off by the sycophantic behavior.

You must be a blast at parties.

Free beer is always nice, well good free beer, but if someone expects to have a conversation in the middle of a brewer's workday because they brought some beer by, that's not a realistic expectation. That being said, Jean is about the nicest brewery owner I've ever met and was more than happy to talk to me at length when he surely had a million other things he could have been doing.

That's the thing... like how many of you are planning a trip to (insert American brewery) and emailing them saying things like "Hey I'd love to bring (insert other brewery's bottles) in for a share with you all!"

As if you're the only one to have ever thought of that or as if they couldn't get the beer themselves. I remember in the cellar/barrel room at 3F there were a bunch of bottles people had brought in as gifts just sitting there. I'm pretty sure the 4yr old bottle of Hopslam was turning into a lambic though instead of a barleywine.

Besides... everyone knows that you bring Jean exquisite and esoteric wines to court that favor ;)

Wow. Did not expect bringing beer to a brewery would strike a chord with so many in this crowd...

Quintessens tickets are for sale! Already have mine. Anybody else going?
Can someone explain to me the concept of Kwintessens? You pay 35€ and get in at the time you booked and can stay until 18h? Do you get tickets to try the beers? How many? I'm trying to convince some of my friends to come along with me and I've never been there myself.

The 35€ includes trying the beers and some food, and yes you could stay till 18:00 if you wanted, it is a lot of fun, and usually several people go to Moeder afterwards:)
I will be there with a friend at 11:30 and surely meeting up with a few more people.

Cheers

Thanks! By trying the beers you mean you get 1 pour of each? Or you get some tickets and decide what to spend them on? Or you get up and get your glass filled when you want? And what about the food?

You get in with the ticket at the designated hour. You get a booklet with one coupon for every beer, you also get a glass. You go inside the brewery and there are booths everywhere where you can drink the beers after you hand over the coupon. So one pour for every beer. They want to have enough beer to serve everyone.
At some booths there's food on a plate, you can take it if you want. Sometimes they offer it to you when you order your beer, it's a kind of foodpairing.
