Hey guys,
I recently got two (5 and 6 gallon) glass carboys to start fermenting in. The problem is, I can't find any large food grade funnels anywhere! All I can find are oil-grade ones made from high-density polyethylene. Something like this:

Could this cause any off flavors or nasty stuff that isn't healthy to drink?

Thanks!

Mine came with the starter brew kit and I;m sure you can get them from any of the online retailers (austin homebrew, midwest, etc). I never actually used mine though. EVerything got transferred via auto-siphon

Here is one from US Plastics:

Here are a few other polypropylene funnels from US Plastics. While they're not FDA certified, I'd think that given the short contact time and lack of pigment, you'd be just fine with them too.

Here are some stainless funnels, if you want bling.

The more I look at my US Plastics catalog, the more cool brewing toys I see.

I have the 8" from Austin Homebrew and it works really well. I even use it to pout Star san into empty milk jugs. Now I am wondering if they are heat resistant. Can I use them with hot wort?

Hot wort and glass not a good idea. BB are rated to 140° cool the wort before transfer

I have an oil funnel, and I sometimes use it to do transfers. I would think that the short contact time the wort is in the funnel would not get any off flavors added to the wort. Maybe a bit different if you were to use it on boiling hot stuff, but I assume you are using the funnel to go from something into a carboy, and as said before hot and glass are not a good thing.
