Found this at Big Lots and immediately wondered if it would be a viable grain to brew. They have other grains also...

I believe the only difference between those oats and rolled oats, composition-wise, is that the roller mill gelatinizes the starch in rolled oats so you can add them to a mash without boiling. Cut oats probably need to be cooked in order to expose them to enzyme action, but otherwise should have the same effect on a beer.
 
Thanks! I'm going to pick up a bag (3#'s) to use as adjunct to AG's. cook them and use the next day, right?
 
You have to cook steel cut oats for like 30 minutes, if I'm not mistaken. Rolled oats are so much easier to deal with.
