Hey guys,
I'm just starting out in home wine brewing. Like, the equipment is literally still on its way. As glass bottles and corkers are very difficult or expensive to get where I'm from (Malaysia), was looking into aging my wine in Pet amber bottles.
Would like to get some expert opinions from you master brewers.

1) Is it okay to age home brewed wine in PET bottles?
2) if it is, is there any time limit to age the wine in Pet bottles? Some forums say that it's not advisable to age wine in PET bottles for too long.
3) are they reusable if we change the caps through every batch?

Thanks in advance!

Glass jugs, bottles or carboys would be better than plastic. Screw top bottles can be re-used. Plastic isn't recommended because a small amount of oxygen can get in. But if you can't get glass, use what you have.

I've never seen a plastic wine bottle, ever. There must be a reason for that.

I haven't either, but I guess somebody uses them:

The thicker the plastic the better. They do sell single serving mini bottles of the cheaper wines. The shelf life on those seem relatively good, but they aren’t for long term storage/aging.
