My friend is in the HVAC industry. I was telling him that I was planning to make a CFC and he said, "Before you do that, I have something that may work for you." He gave me one of these: http://www.amazon.com/CPS-Products-MT69-Molecular-Transformator/dp/B00B4WCQRS

Never used so it is spotless. It is about the size of a coffee can but has 25' of dual coil copper tubing, 1/4" inlet and outlet, and a pressure gauge on top.

Pretty sure it is not big enough for a CFC but wondering if it could have any other use.

Thanks

That is what I will probably do. Before I do, I want to make sure there wouldn't be a good use for it. I would hate to sell it and then later wish I still had it.

The guy that gave it to me said they use it like a pre-chiller. It is fully submersible so they put it in a bucket of ice water and then run refrigerant through it. He said that they are very efficient.

You could use it, but you would have to filter the wort and it would be quite slow. Those AC fittings are designed like the valves for tires.

May have some application to chill kegged if it was in a small ice bath

It depends on what metal that outer case is. If it's stainless, I'd think it's ok. Looks like a lot of nooks and crannies though in that case. Might be a pita to clean.

Cut those fittings off and solder on something useful... or just sell it on ebay.
