Is there a calculation or calculator to deternine how much abv increase you get from adding "x" amount of bourbon into "y" amount of beer in secondary?

I have seen posts with people stating how much of an increase you will get, just not sure to how they came across their numbers.

You can break down the ABV and the volume of each liquid (beer and bourbon) separately to the get volume of alcohol in each, and add it together to figure the new ABV of the beer with bourbon.

For example, say 5 gallons of beer @ 5% ABV with 5 oz. bourbon @ 40% ABV:

5 gallons = 640 oz.

640 oz. * 0.05 = 32 oz. ethanol in beer

5 oz. * 0.4 = 2 oz. ethanol in bourbon

34/645 = 5.27% ABV in finished beer
