I have everything to to make my first batch of mead. Going to use the strawberry cherry recipe posted here.

I had my first mead after I bought everything and my opinion of it was not good. I don’t want to post and bash the company, if they’re selling it, it must be good. Just not for me.

The carbonation was perfect, but was way too sweet! It was like drinking apple flavored honey.

Can a mead be made more on the dry side?

Unfortunately, there's a lot of bad mead on the commercial market.

But yes, you can make dry mead! Depending on the recipe, many meads ferment dry and then it's up to you to decide how much to backsweeten.

In my experience, any mead made with about 3lbs of honey per gallon (depending on the yeast you use) will finish bone dry. Though I use Red Star Premier Blanc yeast, it will keep going until there is nothing left. Last batch went from 1.146 SG to 0.995 FG
